Mysore society of genitourinary surgeons (MYSOGUS) was formed in the year 1990 with team of enthusiastic urologists at Mysore. Dr Krishna Rao, Dr Ranganath, Dr Mahesh Kumar and Dr Xavier D’Souza were the first few to have come together to form the Society. MYSOGUS, today conducts monthly meetings which include a host of academic activities, The team was strengthened by Dr Prakash K Prabhu and Dr Madappa K M in 1992 catering to UROLOGY services in Mysore, Mandya and Coorg districts.
MYSOGUS has hosted various conferences and workshops. The most notable being the 1992 ASU conference at CFTRI, Mysore, and ERCAD , 2013 SZUSICON and KUACON at Infosys campus Mysore . The First PCNL was performed at HMH (Holdsworth memorial Hospital) in 1989, the First live donor Renal transplantation in 1993 at JSS hospital Mysore and later in 2004 Renal transplantation facility was started at Vikram Hospital Mysore.
Urologists Dr. M P Raju , Dr. Ramgopal, Dr. Nandakishore and few other joined the team MYSOGUS. The prestigious M P Raju Endowment lecture has been a regular feature at all KUACON conferences. MYSOGUS membership is 21 at present (2017) and conducts regular monthly meetings which includes MCh postgraduates who will be presenting clinical cases, journal discussions, subject seminars and various other discussions which involves interesting cases,operative photos and video presentation by consultants.
